LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former NASCAR Driver Kyle Petty is getting ready for a weeklong charity ride in May that will make two stops in Kentucky.

The charity ride will make its way through Louisville and Bowling Green on Wednesday, May 8. Petty will lead 150 motorcycles over 2,100 miles across nine states. The money raised will benefit Victory Junction, a camp located in North Carolina that provides life-changing experiences for children with chronic medical conditions.

“Camps about giving kids, special kids a camp experience, and hopefully they’ll make a friend or two that they’ll have for a lifetime,” Petty said.

Petty said Victory Junction is a cause that’s close to his heart. He said, “My oldest son Adam was killed in a racing accident in New Hampshire, and we started the camp in his name.”

Victory Junction’s website shares this about Adam Petty “Between races, Adam was often found in pediatric hospitals visiting children with challenging medical conditions.”

Adam was saving money to build a children’s camp before he was killed in 2000. In 2002, The Petty family began raising money to create Victory Junction. The Camp opened its doors to campers in 2004.

Kyle Petty has been raising money annually for Victory Junction, and other children’s charities since 1995. The Kyle Petty Charity Ride has raised more than $21 million in the last 28 years.
