Across Trimble County, several homes and businesses were left severely damaged after an EF2 tornado touched down Thursday afternoon.

Robert Rowlett, who lives in Milton, was at work in neighboring Carroll County when the storm hit. "I heard the tornado warning come over and I started calling everybody,” he said.

Robert says he’s lived in the town his whole life and has never seen a storm like this. He reflected on all the damage he could see from his porch, including a local liquor store and a pizza restaurant that was set to open its doors in a week.

In the storm, Rowlett’s front porch took most of the damage, leaving the roof to his home.

"I do have cracks in the wall here and stuff, but and it took some force to push all that back is a lot of weight," he shared, referring to his roof that he and his family worked to straighten out before inspectors arrived.

Rowlett says regardless of the storm, his community is strong and will make it through this disaster just like any other time.

He said, “You know, I mean, things get destroyed. They can get rebuilt. That’s just the way it is. I’ve seen it my whole life.”

The national weather service is continuing to survey the damage while the community works to repair the damage.
