Elzy has been coach of the Wildcats since Nov. 2020, when Matthew Mitchell resigned. In 2022, she led the team to a SEC tournament championship. She also served eight seasons on the Kentucky staff as assistant coach and associate head coach.

“I appreciate Kyra for her efforts at Kentucky, on and off the court, and wish her and her family the best in the future,” Barnhart said.

The 2023-24 season was lackluster for the women’s squad, going 12-20 on the season with a 4-12 record in the SEC. In her four seasons as head coach, Elzy had a 61-60 record with a 23-40 conference record.
