What You Need To Know

  •  A senior health fair, organized by Bonita Taylor with the United Vendors of America, was held at a living center

  • Aetna Medicare Solutions set up a booth to talk with attendees and educate them about health insurance

  •  There were vendors selling skin care products and jewelry as well

Bonita Taylor with the United Vendors of America LLC. organized the fair at a living center for seniors.

“It’s been about 15 or 20 years, I went to my first senior health fair in Frankfort, Kentucky, for the seniors and I thought it’d be a great idea to have it here and to invite the local community, all the different assisted-living homes so that they can come out, the ones that can get around, to see what’s available for them,” said Taylor.

Patrick Lee with Aetna Medicare Solutions was also there to educate seniors about health care insurance.

“The face-to-face matters,” said Lee. “Insurance, which we sell, it is the most intangible product I can think of, I mean what else? You can’t touch it… so you got to develop a rapport and a relationship.”

Being able to provide seniors with this type of information is one of Taylor’s goals behind having a health fair specific to them.

“A lot of the seniors are not aware that they have alternative and additional benefits to go along with their Medicare,” said Taylor.

On top of walking away with some more information, vendors were selling skin care products and jewelry for people to gift loved ones for Valentine’s Day.

Taylor plans to have another senior health fair in the near future.
