This resulted in a short pursuit along Fourth Street, and officers demanded the suspect drop the weapon, the chief said at a press conference.

"Once the subject was no longer a threat, officers rendered life-saving aid. Medics rushed the adult male to University of Louisville Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. There is no additional threat to the public."

No bystanders or officers were hurt, the chief said.

There will be body-worn camera footage that will be released publicly within 10 business days, per our new officer-involved shooting procedure."
