LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky Refugee Ministries and Master-Pieced Inc. organized a resource fair aimed at supporting immigrants and refugees in a number of ways.

What You Need To Know

  • A resource fair was held to provide information to immigrants and refugees about different organizations in Lexington

  • Kentucky Refugee Ministries and Master-Pieced Inc., two organizations that work with immigrants and refugees, organized the resource fair

  • The Bluegrass Community Health Center attended to provide some health services for people who stopped by the fair

  • Winter coats were also given away

The event gave organizations a way to collaborate while serving the community. Representatives with those groups were there to provide people with information about the work they do.

The Bluegrass Community Health Center was there to do a few things, such as blood pressure tests and blood sugar tests. The team also administered flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

“When we have immigrants succeed in Lexington, guess what? The community thrives because then we don’t have to worry so much about things,” said Tina Kufour, the founder of Master-Pieced Inc., a nonprofit that has programs for immigrants, many of which focus on mentoring.

At the fair, people could also grab a coat to prepare for the winter.

Kufour said it’s important for these groups to partner and collaborate with each other to better serve immigrants of all backgrounds.
