LOUISVILLE, Ky. — “The Man of Steal,” Rickey Henderson, is being honored with the Living Legend Award from Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.

Established in 2007, the award celebrates individuals whose contributions to the game of baseball have achieved legendary status.

In the release announcing his selection, Henderson said, “This recognition means so much to me, not just as a baseball player, but as someone who has always strived to make a positive impact both on and off the field. Louisville Slugger has been an integral part of baseball’s history, and to be associated with such an iconic brand is truly humbling.”

It’s hard to put Henderson’s career into words, simply because his career on the diamond was stunning. Some of his notable accomplishments are:

  • All-Time Stolen Bases Leader: Henderson’s base-stealing earned him the title of the all-time stolen bases leader, stealing 1,406 bases during his career. 

  • Runs Scored Record: Henderson’s remarkable ability to cross home plate made him the all-time runs scored leader with 2,295 runs, solidifying his status as an offensive juggernaut

  • Henderson was enshrined in the Baseball Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in baseball. 

Henderson’s achievements off the field are also notable. He is committed to causes dedicated to supporting youth education and sports development.

The Living Legend ceremony will be Nov. 10 at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Tickets are available online. Henderson’s teammate and former three-time World Series Champion, Dave Stewart, will also be in Louisville to present Henderson with his award.
