LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Multiple Louisville Fire Department crews responded to fire in downtown Louisville overnight. LFD said the area is still an active fire scene Thursday morning and asked the public to stay clear of the area. 

According to LFD, crews were sent at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday night to reports of smoke in the 400 block of W. Market Street. Fire crews found a heavy fire throughout a five-story commercial building that houses a sushi restaurant on the first floor. The second through fifth floors were vacant. 

LFD said over 100 fighters were sent to fight blaze. One firefighter was injured during the incident but the injuries are non-life threatening. The LFD crew member was transported to a local hospital. 

Crews are still actively working throughout the morning to clear the area.
