LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau reports that $88 billion in medical debt showed up on consumer credit records in 2021. This affects millions of people who struggle with debt across the nation.
This can also make it harder for people to find homes and jobs.
Mid-Kentucky Presbytery teamed up with RIP Medical Debt to abolish medical debt for thousands of Kentuckians.
It’s through their campaign efforts that they raised $4.5 million.
General Presbyter John Odom spoke on why this project is important to the organization.
