NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. — While many 20-year-olds are still trying to find a direction in life; a young man in central Kentucky is now opening his second restaurant.
Jack’s Eatery closed in June, and Marsh is transforming it into a new fast-food joint. At just 20 years old, Marsh will soon open Bubba Grub in his hometown of Nicholasville.
“It’s going to be a fun laid back spot for teenagers, college students. People can come have a burger, grab a milkshake, we’re going to have music, it’s going to be fun in here,” Marsh said.
Marsh was born and raised in central Kentucky. He grew up in the restaurant business and helped at various restaurants his dad owned over the years.
“My favorite is the back-end side, the stuff you guys really don’t see that goes into developing a menu, developing those recipes,” Marsh said.
Last year, Marsh decided he wanted to be a restauranteur too and last October, he opened Landon’s Sugar Shack in Bowling Green.
“It’s cocktails with dry ice, desserts, over the top entrees,” Marsh said.
But for Bubba Grub, Marsh said the vibe is more laid back and will be fast food for those who don’t like traditional fast food.
“It’s fast food for those that want fresh, never frozen products, all real while still getting quick service,” Marsh said.
There’s still work to be done, but Marsh is hard at work painting and stripping the windows of the former eatery. His mom is helping him out with that, but the rest of the work has been all him.
“I come from the restaurant business but this new concept, I’m taking off on my own wings and developing it on my own,” Marsh said.
Marsh says he’s already looking at a second location for Bubba Grub, including Frankfort, Louisville or Cincinnati.
Bubba Grub opens Oct. 6 and the first 50 customers will get a free burger..
