Austin Schick joined the Spectrum News team in Jan. 2023. Austin is a multimedia journalist and reporter who tells stories that affect the people of Lexington. 

Austin got his B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Missouri State University in Springfield. Prior to joining the Spectrum News 1 team, Austin worked at WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois, where he was in charge of day-to-day news in the Bloomington-Normal bureau.

During his time at WMBD, Austin won the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association Silver Dome award for Best Multicultural Reach for his reporting on a Bloomington woman that broke color barriers on local school boards and city council.

When not at work, Austin enjoys watching baseball, WWE and playing video games. Born and raised in St. Louis, Austin is a huge Cardinals fan..
