LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kosair for Kids made magic in Versailles this weekend. Over thirty princesses of unique abilities went to the Kentucky Castle for a day of royal fun.
It was a day filled with makeovers, princesses and walking—or rolling—the pink carpet.
Cora, a 4-year-old princess, got the royal treatment. When she was two months old, she caught double pneumonia in her lungs. She spent a month in the hospital, and Kosair for Kids was there to help Cora and her family.
“Down the road when she was a little bit older, she had to have a helmet. So they also stepped up and helped us financially because it was difficult,” said Jaime Flick, Cora’s mom. “Our insurance didn’t take care of it, but Kosair took care of the rest.”
The day of royalty lets kids just be kids, and its importance is clear to Stephanie Smith, VP of events and outreach at Kosair.
“They get to dress up, look their best, have tea and meet some of their favorite characters,” Smith said.
Once Cora was dressed as her favorite underwater princess, she “swam” on over to the ballroom where the magic continued.
She met famous princesses like Cinderella, Tiana and Belle.
“It’s a great community, any type of help. They’ve also helped with my oldest son, who’s autistic…. They’ve helped financially that way, but also just being there and being and being supportive,” said Flick.
Sunday’s event was part of Kosair for Kids effort to help create a world where children in need can live life to the fullest. All participants are a part of Kosair for Kids’ financial assistance program.
Last year, Kosair helped close to 200,000, and they hope to make more “magical moments” for years to come.
