DRY RIDGE, Ky. — A husband and wife in central Kentucky were arrested this week and charged with stealing money from a volunteer fire department, Kentucky State Police said.
And they have a personal connection to the department.
Larry Burden, 58, and Angela Burden, 57, are both facing abuse of public trust and theft charges. Police said they're accused of using over $100,000 from the Robertson County Volunteer Fire Department, where they both worked, for personal gain.
Both were booked into the Bourbon County Detention Center on a $114,000 bond, KSP said. The couple occupied "key roles" at the department, police said.
It's not clear if the couple are still part of the volunteer fire department. KSP Post 6, which covers several counties in northern and central Kentucky, is actively investigating the case.
