FANCY FARM, Ky. — The 143rd Fancy Farm Picnic, often hailed as Kentucky's political Super Bowl, is just one month away. Several candidates seeking statewide office have confirmed their attendance, including the two candidates for Kentucky's highest office.

Fancy Farms confirmed that Gov. Andy Beshear (D) would be attending this year's picnic. Beshear hasn't attended the event since 2019, when he was attorney general and a gubernatorial candidate. Initially, the incumbent govnoer would not say if he planned on attending the informal kick-off to election season in the Bluegrass.

His Republican opponent, current Attorney General Daniel Cameron, has confirmed he'll attend this year's festivities, Fancy Farm Political Chairman Steven Elder said.

Both candidates for several statewide office seats have also confirmed their attendance:

  • Agriculture commissioner candidates Jonathan Shell (R) and Sierra Enlow (D)
  • Treasurer candidates Mark Metcalf (R) and Michael Bowman (D)
  • Attorney General candidates Russell Coleman (R) and Pam Stevenson (D)

Auditor candidate Allison Ball (R) and incumbent Secretary of State Michael Adams (R) will be attending, but their Democratic opponents have yet to share their plans.

Other Republican attendees confirmed so far include Congressional Rep. James Comer, Ag Comissioner Ryan Quarles, Auditor Mike Harmon, State Rep. Richard Heath and State Sen. Jason Howell.

The 143rd St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky.
