LOUISVILLE, Ky. — With wildfire haze leaving air quality hazardous for much of Kentucky, many Planet Fitness locations are opening their doors to help people get in shape while avoiding muggy conditions.

What You Need To Know

  • Planet Fitness is opening their 22 Louisville-area locations for use for free by people wanting to exercise while air quality is poor, from now until July 2, 2023

  • The Planet Fitness locations participating in this initiative include all 10 Louisville Metro clubs, plus Clarksville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Madison, La Grange, Shelbyville, Bardstown, Shepherdsville, Frankfort, Radcliffe, Elizabethtown and Campbellsville

  • All Planet Fitness locations offer over 100 cardio and strength equipment pieces, 30-minute circuit training and functional training

  • The offer is also valid at Lexington and Owensboro locations

Air quality indices are forecast to be unhealthy for the next few days, and the gym announced the 22 area locations will be free for anyone wanting to exercise now through July 2. Visitors will have no obligation to join to take advantage of this opportunity.

“We want to make sure those who normally exercise outdoors have a safe option to avoid unhealthy air quality levels,” said GlowBrands CEO Rick Kueber, who leads the Louisville-area Planet Fitness franchisee group. “Part of a healthy lifestyle is making fitness a part of your routine. We hope this free access gives everyone the opportunity to exercise safely and continue their healthy habits.”

All Planet Fitness locations offer over 100 cardio and strength equipment pieces, 30-minute circuit training and functional training. They also carry amenities such as full-service locker rooms, tanning, massage chairs and HydroMassage beds.

The Planet Fitness locations participating in this initiative include all 10 Louisville Metro clubs, plus Clarksville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Madison, La Grange, Shelbyville, Bardstown, Shepherdsville, Frankfort, Radcliffe, Elizabethtown and Campbellsville.

GlowBrands said their locations in Lexington and Owensboro will also be free for all fitness buffs interested.
