LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Stephen Foster Story kicks off its 2023 season Saturday, June 17 at 8 p.m. at the J. Dan Talbott Ampitheater in Bardstown. The show is presented by the Stephen Foster Drama Association and is now in its 64th season.

The Stephen Foster Story is set in the mid-19th century and follows America’s first great composer Stephen Collins Foster as he paves the road for future songwriters through love, heartache and the struggles of the time. Featuring over 50 of Foster’s greatest compositions such as “Oh! Susanna,” “Camptown Races,” “Beautiful Dreamer,” “Hard Times (Come Again No More)” and Kentucky’s state song, “My Old Kentucky Home,” The Stephen Foster Story captures the essence of the past through song, dance, breathtaking costumes and the picturesque setting of My Old Kentucky Home State Park.

“Not only does this show revolve around a significant historical figure, but it has also become an integral part of Kentucky’s artistic heritage,” said Johnny Warren, executive artistic director for the Stephen Foster Story and the Stephen Foster Drama Association. “Over the years, attending this show has evolved into a quintessential Kentucky experience, and we take pride in this year’s cast, crew and staff for upholding this tradition with utmost excellence.”
