Kids could partake in this family-friendly event.

“Families come out here on memorial day weekend and fish. We have a competition," recreational program coordinator Alicia Chappell said.

Chappell said fun prizes could be won throughout the event. But it goes beyond some competition and prizes, it's a way to bring people together.

“It brings the community together. It brings them outside into the parks and just enjoy the beautiful weekend. It brings families together," Chappell said.

Families were out enjoying the day. Alana Crutchfield was out with family learning to fish for the first time.

“What we learned from our granddad is we have to pull it back and like push the button so it can go super high up and then we have to wait until we get fish," Crutchfield said.
