LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There's no surer sign of summer than the opening of local water parks. Kentucky Kingdom, a popular day-cation destination in the Commonwealth, will start welcoming guests back to Hurricane Bay on Saturday, May 27.

The waterpark, a longtime summer tradition for regional families, features over two dozen attractions for guests of all ages, including two kids play areas, two wave pools, three slide towers, and two river tube attractions.

Hurricane Bay’s opening also marks the start of Kentucky Kingdom’s summer season, with extended park hours for more time to enjoy over 70 thrilling rides – including five coasters and one of the world’s tallest body slides.

“The best place for Louisvillians to ward off the summertime heat is right here in their backyard at Kentucky Kingdom’s Hurricane Bay,” said Sarah Worrell, Kentucky Kingdom General Manager.

Hurricane Bay boasts attractions like the Family Wave Lagoon, Castaway Creek and Wikiwiki Wai. Tickets and season passes are available for purchase online at kentuckykingdom.com.

New to Hurricane Bay this season are top-notch performances from local musicians at the all-new Sound Waves Stage.

Guests this summer will also be the first to experience Summer Blast, Kentucky Kingdom’s first ever fireworks show. Beginning Friday, July 7 and happening every Friday and Saturday throughout the month, we’ll be dazzling guests like never before as we light up the sky with 15 minutes of memory-making magic.

Hurricane Bay is open daily in June and July, operating on weekends only from early August to Sept. 4, 2023.
