LEXINGTON, Ky. — This past week, Jayden Allred, Samuel Lichlyter, and Gavin Callahan gathered at a farm in Richmond to help assist the owner with some tasks.

What You Need To Know

  •  Three young men are members of the Kentucky Louisville Mission and one part of their duties is to serve their communities

  •  They make Facebook posts that advertise free help to spread the word

  •  They help with yard work, moving furniture and cleaning cars

  • It is not just an obligation for them — helping and serving others is something they enjoy

Through their church, the three young men offer free services to the community to help with a number of things.

“Whatever it is, we’re always willing to help and it helps us to just show that Christ-like love to them and bring that into their lives and show service in any way we can,” said Lichlyter.

All three of them are part of the Kentucky Louisville Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Callahan and Allred are based in Richmond, while Lichlyter serves in Lexington.

They look for opportunities to help the community by posting on Facebook groups to advertise free services, which can include yard work, helping to move furniture and cleaning cars.

After a tornado ripped through Bowling Green about a year ago, Callahan was sent there to assist.

“I was able to go and help out with some cleanup from the tornado and help out someone at their house, clean up their yard and their house,” said Callahan.

Helping and serving others is a value that was instilled in all of them from a young age. If they come across someone randomly that is in need of help, they will offer their assistance. It is something that they find joy in doing.

“Sometimes it’s difficult to find those opportunities to help but we love to help people and we want people to know that we’re here really just to uplift everyone and make the world a better place,” said Allred.

The ultimate goal is to make a difference and have a positive impact on the people they help.
