In a news release, cabinet officials shared that the Jessamine County resident is unvaccinated and attended services on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Public Health, Dr. Steven Stack, cautioned those who attended the revival that day about potential exposure. “Anyone who attended the revival on Feb. 18 may have been exposed to measles. Attendees who are unvaccinated are encouraged to quarantine for 21 days and to seek immunization with the measles vaccine, which is safe and effective.”

Early symptoms of measles could be fever, cough, conjunctivitis and a runny nose. That will lead to a rash three to five days after symptoms begin.

Stack says if you develop those symptoms after visiting Asbury University’s campus, “Do not arrive at a health care facility without advanced notice so that others will not be exposed.”

This new case is Kentucky’s third measles case in a three-month span.
