LEXINGTON, Ky. — A former University of Kentucky student accused of yelling racial slurs at a Black student employee at a residence hall, has been criminally indicted by a Fayette County Grand Jury on all charges.

  • She is also accused of attacking campus police officers 

  •  A grand jury indicted her on all charges

  • She will be arraigned in March

The grand jury indicted Sophia Rosing on the six charges she was initially charged with:

  • Third degree assault of a police officer
  • Two counts of fourth-degree assault
  • Second-degree disorderly conduct
  • Alcohol intoxication

The incident happened at Boyd Residence Hall in Nov. 2022. Rosing, who is white, came into the building and began taunting and using racial slurs toward Kylah Spring, a Black student who was working as a desk clerk at the dorm. The incident was captured and shared on social media.

UK permanently banned Rosing from campus and President Eli Capilouto said she could not re-enroll at the school.

The indictment alleges Rosing kicked a campus police officer and bit and hit three other people, including Spring.

Rosing will be arraigned in circuit court on March 17.
