COVINGTON, Ky. — Thursday was a big day for Life Learning Center and Dress for Success Cincinnati. The two launched a partnership dream Thursday afternoon. Those with Dress for Success said they now operate a satellite location at the Life Learning Center in Covington.

What You Need To Know

  • Life Learning Center aims to help people get back on track

  • Dress for Success Cincinnati aims to help empower women looking toward economic success

  • The two partnered together to bring Dress for Success StyleHER program to the Life Learning Center facility

  • This will allow a stylist to help empower women as they gear up for job interviews and better career success

“When women come in here, they’re going to receive a personalized styling experience that will equip them with the clothes they need for their interview or employment, but they’ll also have the individualized confidence building experience that’s really going to equip them to look great going into a new interview or a new job,” said Lisa Nolan, executive director at Dress for Success Cincinnati.

Nolan said this is the second satellite location to open for Dress for Success Cincinnati. They opened one in Loveland and now have Covington’s location open and operating at Life Learning Center.

It’s called the StyleHER Program and it will now allow under-employed and unemployed women to receive services they could get across the Ohio River. It enhances what Life Learning Center representatives can do in helping people get back on track.

Life Learning Center helps “at risk” citizens through continuum education and care programs.

“The individuals we work with, they’re coming to us at probably one of the worst times of their life, when they need some help to find their dignity, find their smile,” said Laura Berkemeier, development director at LLC. “They may have experienced something negative in their past and they want to overcome that and live up to their highest potential.”

Berkemeier said a stylist will come work out of this location a couple times a week for now, and they hope to expand on this as time goes on. Styling Services Manager at Dress for Success Kate Black said it’s a great way to empower women—all through the power of fashion.

“Empowering women is seeing them dance out of dressing rooms and calling me a week later saying ‘I got the job!’” Black said.

To Black, it’s more than just a pair of slacks or an outfit all put together. She knows the confidence boost will help women continue striving for success.

She hopes her role and the role other stylists play in helping women in the Greater Cincinnati area furthers empowerment and allows these women they help to inspire other women one day.
