FLORENCE, Ky. — Cookie booth sales have started for Girl Scouts Of Kentucky's Wilderness Road Region. On Sunday, Clara Hibbits was out with her family manning a booth in Florence. She's a Girl Scout with Troop 2404 out of North Pointe Elementary. There's a part of Clara Hibbits that comes to life this time of year.
“I really like selling Girl Scout Cookies,” Hibbits said.
Now there’s more to selling cookies than just simply asking if someone wants to buy them. Clara said she’s got a few things she checks off and tries while attempting to sell someone some cookies.
“I’ve been doing some cheers and telling people how much they are and a lot of people see my displays,” she said.
These displays show off different cookies people can purchase. Helping sell cookies was Norah Hibbits, who said she was once a Girl Scout and loves seeing her kids get into Girl Scouts too. She said her girls will leave with some good skill sets to take with them through life.
“It teaches you entrepreneurship and money skills and interacting with people. The girls set their own goals for how many cookies they want to sell, so it’s really about what they are driven to do,” she said.
This family is thankful to see community members show support for local Girl Scout troops. Proceeds from sales go toward funding trips and other fun activities Clara and other Girl Scouts get to do.
Cookie booth season may have just started, but Clara’s confident already. “I’ve sold a lot of cookies already,” Clara said.
Cookies through the Kentucky’s Wilderness Road region will be sold through the end of March. Cookies can also be purchased online.
