LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Another Brohm is back home in Louisville and once again at the University of Louisville.
Brian Brohm, one of the best quarterbacks in school history, joins his brother head coach Jeff Brohm’s staff as offensive coordinator.
The youngest Brohm brother spent six seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterback coach at Purdue, also on his brother’s staff. He was the Boilermakers’ interim head coach for the Citrus Bowl where Purdue lost to LSU.
In a release, Jeff Brohm said, “Brian is well-versed in the intricacies of our offensive system and has a great understanding of the style that we want to play.” Brohm added. “He played the quarterback position at the highest level, which has helped him develop outstanding quarterbacks who were also strong leaders. Brian does a great job teaching our players and has a track record of success at maximizing their potential.”
Brian Brohm helped shape Purdue’s aerial success in 2022. The Boilermakers ranked second in the Big Ten in passing yards per game (278.8) and 22nd nationally.
Last season Purdue’s offense had six games where they scored over 30 points and threw for 3,903 yards and 26 touchdowns and wrapped up the year with an 8-6 record, including the school’s first Big Ten West title.
Brohm came to Purdue from Western Kentucky University, where he was co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2016 season. The Hilltopper offense averaged 45.5 points, 336.8 passing yards and 523.1 total yards per game. WKU won its final eight games, including the Conference USA Championship game when the Toppers beat Louisiana Tech 58-44.
Brohm played professional football for eight seasons, including stints with the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills. He also has experience in the United Football League and the Canadian Football League.
Brian Brohm, like brother Jeff, graduated from UofL. He returns to his alma mater where he starred from 2004 to 2007. He remains of the Cardinals’ career leaders in passing attempts (second, 1,185) passing yards (second, 10,775) and passing efficiency (second, 157.92).
In 2006, Brohm helped lead the Cardinals to a school's best 12-1 record, which included a 24-13 victory over Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl. They named him the Orange Bowl Most Valuable Player after completing 24 of 34 passes for 311 yards. His 30 touchdown passes in 2007 are tied for second in school history with 2016 Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson.
Brohm graduated from Trinity High School and help to take them to three Kentucky Class 4A state championships (2001, 2002 and 2003). In 2003, he was named Kentucky’s Mr. Football, USA Today’s Offensive Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year.
He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He and his wife, Ashley, have a son, Weston, and a daughter, Stella.
