LEXINGTON, Ky. — Time to turn up the music, Lizzo is coming to Lexington. 

The three-time GRAMMY and Emmy award-winning artist announced the second leg of her “Special” tour Monday morning. The extended dates include a April 22, 2023 show at Rupp Arena.

The "Special 2our" will kick off on April 21 in Knoxville before coming to Lexington the next night. Tickets go on sale for the general public  Friday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. on lizzomusic.com. Ticket prices have not been announced at this time. 

Named for her smash-hit album "Special," which peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Chart, the tour is heading to Los Angeles before taking off overseas to venues in Germany, France and England. Thus far on tour, Lizzo has performed all of the songs off her most recent album, as well as hit tracks such as “Boys,” “Like a Girl,” “Juice” and “Truth Hurts.”

Lizzo is touring with her “Big Grrrls,” her backup dancers. Lizzo’s reality show, “Lizzo’s Watch Out For The Big Grrrls,” is streaming on Prime Video. In the show, she searched for new dancers to join her on tour, as she celebrated diversity, considering primarily plus sized dancers of color.

The show won three Emmy’s in 2022 for “Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program,” “Outstanding Competition Program” and “Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program.” The show was also nominated for “Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program,” “Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Nonfiction or Reality Program (Single or Multi-Camera)” and “Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program.”
