The food drive is hosted in partnership with UK's Office of Sustainability, UK Athletics said. Fans can bring nonperishable foods to the games—Saturday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 19—before kickoff. Collection areas will be staged at Gates 2 and 9 starting at 10 a.m.

“We are excited to support UK Athletics goal for a zero-waste Kroger Field by 2030 and see the Sack Hunger food drive as an important component of this work, giving the Big Blue Nation a way to turn unopened tailgating items that might have become part of the waste stream into hunger relief for communities across the state,” said Shane Tedder, a UK sustainability officer.

The Sack Hunger Food Drive will benefit God’s Pantry Food Bank, which serves 50 counties in central and eastern Kentucky in partnership with more than 475 food pantries and meal programs.

The organization’s vision is a nourished life for every Kentuckian, according to the organization's website. God’s Pantry’s mission is reducing hunger by working together to feed Kentucky communities.

With ongoing flood recovery efforts and the onset of cold weather in mind, UK Athletics said any and all contributions will be greatly appreciated.

The ”Sack Hunger” food drive was last held on Nov. 2, 2021, before the Kentucky football game that day, helping to collect 450 pounds of food items that benefited local food banks.
