LOUISVILLE, Ky. — UPS employees collected over 9,000 pounds of food in its holidy food drive for Dare to Care on Wednesday.

Employees collected several pallets of food that included items such as canned soups, fruits, vegetables, beans and other nonperishable food items that will be distributed to those most in need in the Louisville community. The food donations were loaded up and delivered to the Dare to Care Food Bank on Fern Valley Road around midday.

According to Dare to Care, there are over half a million food insecure individuals in Kentucky. Last year, Dare to Care served 19.6 million meals, including 5.7 million meals to in 13 counties across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

UPS has been in partnership with Dare to Care for nearly 20 years and has donated more than $100,000 and helped provide over a half a million meals during that time. Dare to care works with local social service agencies, such as food pantries, shelters and emergency kitchens to distribute food to the community.

The project was part of UPS’s commitment to deliver social impact through charitable giving. UPS employees are also committed to volunteering 30 million hours by 2030 through local community engagement. UPS employees have already donated 112,000 volunteer hours this year.
