LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville defensive lineman Yaya Diaby has been invited to take part in the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
The NFL Network will broadcast the game Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. ET from Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Diaby is the 36th UofL player invited to participate in the Senior Bowl in school history. He’s the first since wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick was chosen in 2021. Diaby is also the first defensive lineman selected since Sheldon Rankins was invited to play in 2016.
The Atlanta native leads the Cardinals this season with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. The 6-foot-4, 270 pound defensive end is credited with season high 3.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks against Florida State.
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is considered the nation’s most prestigious college all-star game. Every year, the best senior collegiate football players and top NFL draft prospects are assembled on squads representing the National and American and then coached by staffs from two National Football League (NFL) teams.
The Senior Bowl has been played for the past 73 years. According to the Senior Bowl’s website, in 2021, the game produced a record-tying 106 total draft picks for the second year in a row. This represented 40% of the entire NFL draft.
