LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville City Football Club will take aim at its next title on the road, traveling to play San Antonio Football Club on Sunday, Nov. 13, in the United Soccer League Championship Final.
San Antonio FC defeated Colorado Springs Switchbacks Soccer Club by a 2-0 score in Sunday night's Western Conference Final to advance to the championship. On Saturday, Louisville City FC defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdie, 1-0, in the Eastern Conference Final.
Higher seeded clubs received home-field advantage throughout the USL Championship Playoffs. Both San Antonio and Louisville City were No. 1 seeds in the conference, but San Antonio earned more points in the regular season (77 to 72), so it is the home team.
It is Louisville City's third time playing in the USL Championship Final in its young history. The team won consecutive league crowns in 2017 and 2018. Both victories were in Louisville. This year is the club's first USL Championship Final as an away game. Since its launch in 2015, Louisville City won three Eastern Conference Finals as well.
San Antonio FC, operated by the National Basketball Association San Antonio Spurs' ownership group since 2016, is making its first-ever USL Championship Final appearance. The club features a pair of All-League First Team selections in goalkeeper Jordan Farr and defender Mitchell Taintor.
This is the first time two No. 1 seeds are playing in the final and the first meeting between Louisville City and San Antonio.
Kickoff for the match is set for 8:30 p.m. at the 8,000-capacity Toyota Field in San Antonio. The final will air live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes with expanded pregame and postgame coverage also on ESPN Louisville's 680/105.7.
Louisville City will relay local watch party details as soon as they're available.
