David Lusby, from Georgetown, has been in city government for the past 29 years, and is hoping to take it one step further come November. “Georgetown needs experience in leadership and I’m ready to get ready to take that position,” Lusby said.
Lusby attended Morehead State University and moved back to his hometown after graduating. Since then, Lusby has worked in banking for nearly 30 years and currently serves as a council member in Scott County.
“Here we are 29 years later and we’re ready to graduate from the city council and hopefully take on the executive branch of government as the mayor,” Lusby said.
David Lusby is running against Burney Jenkins for Georgetown mayor. If elected, he intends to focus on public safety, unification and responsible growth.
“We’re competing with other communities for manpower and that’s a big issue,” Lusby said.
According to Lusby, responsible growth is the key to improving his community and says Georgetown should be ground zero for change.
“We gave emergency responders significant raises. We’ve built a new police department recently and those are the kinds of improvements that we need to continue to make,” Lusby said.
Election Day is on Nov. 8, and Lusby hopes it’s an opportunity for him to make an impact in his hometown.
