  • If passed, it would effectively eliminate abortion access in the Commonwealth

The Yes for Life Alliance gathered many community members at the Capitol on Saturday to voice concerns on abortion. At the event with Sisters for Life was Beverly Johnson, who believes life starts less than three weeks after conception.

“It’s a baby. It’s a living being 18-21 days after conception,” she said.

Johnson and others were there against abortion. Also rallying at the Capitol during this time was the opposing side.

In that crowd was Chuck Eddy, who has a daughter and wanted to stick up for her and others capable of reproducing.

“We've got to think about the girls and the mothers, our daughters, our nieces. It’s very important that we bear that in mind,” Eddy said.

Both sides were there, encouraging others to get out and vote in November. On the ballot is Constitutional Amendment 2. If passed, this would eliminate Kentuckians’ constitutional access to abortion care.

“We’re trying to get them on the side of life to vote ‘yes’ for life… Abolish abortion in the state of Kentucky,” Johnson said.

“I’m totally opposed to constitutional amendment number 2. It’s going to completely ban abortions in Kentucky. That means no exceptions for rape, for incest, health of the mother, or the inability of the baby to survive outside the womb,” Eddy said.

It’s a decision voters will make in November’s election, which will be held on Nov. 8, 2022.
