LEXINGTON, Ky. — One person has been arrested after a fight at a Wednesday night house party near the University of Kentucky campus where one student was shot, Lexington Police said Thursday morning.

  • Jason Almanza-Arroyo, 19, was arrested and charged with 1st degree Wanton Endangerment, 2nd degree Disorderly Conduct, 3rd degree Assault (communicable fluid), and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place

The party was happening at a house on University Avenue shortly before midnight. Two "uninvited subjects" came to the party and a fight broke out, police said.

One shot was fired, hitting a UK student who suffered non-life threatening injuries. Ten students were also injured by "shrapnel and debris," but police said they aren't gunshot wounds and none of those students suffered life-threatening injuries.

Jason Almanza-Arroyo, 19, was arrested and charged with 1st degree Wanton Endangerment, 2nd degree Disorderly Conduct, 3rd degree Assault (communicable fluid), and Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.  

Almanza-Arroyo is currently detained at the Fayette County Detention Center, police said. Two arrests, unrelated to the shooting, have also been made and additional charges are pending.

All injured students were quickly transported to UK Chandler Hospital.
