JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. — The 53rd annual Gaslight Festival returns Sunday, Sept. 11 and running through Sunday, Sept. 18. Residents and visitors from all over will be treated to entertainment and events all week long.

For the first time, the festival has a major corporate sponsor. Kroger announced its support of the Gaslight Festival earlier this year.

“The Gaslight Festival is a 53-year tradition for the city of Jeffersontown,” said Bill Dieruf, Jeffersontown Mayor. “It is extra special as our city celebrates its 225th anniversary. We are using this time to celebrate history, tradition, family and what the future holds for our wonderful community of Jeffersontown.”

The Jeffersontown Chamber is hosting and organized this year’s event. The festival kicks off with the annual Gaslight Thunder Rally, which supports veterans and families of USA Cares. The organization, founded in Kentucky, provides financial help to service members in need. This year’s rally will also pay tribute to the fallen heroes of 9/11.

 Other long-standing events will follow the rally, including the Gaslight Festival 5K Walk/run; the Gaslight Festival Parade and the Gaslight Balloon Glow. 

“The Jeffersontown Chamber is honored to produce the Gaslight Festival each year,” said Deana Karem, Jeffersontown Chamber President and CEO. “A central part of this tradition is showcasing all of the assets, amenities and attractions our city has to offer.”

Kentucky native and country music singer, JD Shelburne, is the headline entertainment. Below is a full schedule of events:

  • Tuesday, September 13: 5K Run/Walk (Sponsored by Baptist Health)
  • Wednesday, September 14: City of Jeffersontown Business Appreciation Luncheon
  • Thursday, September 15: Parade (Sponsored by River City Bank)
  • Friday, September 16: Balloon Glow (Sponsored by US Bank), Festival and Live Entertainment Begins
  • Saturday, September 17: Live Entertainment with JD Shelburne, Explore a Truck, Food and Rides
  • Sunday, September 18: Car Show and Kentucky Pipe Smoking Championship (the oldest tradition at the Gaslight Festival)
