SMITH MILLS, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are investigating the deaths of three people found at a home in Henderson County.-
According to news releases from KSP, Henderson County Central Dispatch received a call about a shooting Saturday night in the Smith Mills community. Smith Mills is 30 minutes south of Evansville, Indiana. When troopers and deputies arrived at the home, they found two people outside of the house with apparent gunshot wounds. A woman was dead, and another man was injured and taken to a hospital in Evansville. The man later died.
Troopers and deputies learned there were four children inside the house and possibly another man. Emergency Response Teams from Henderson County and KSP were activated and the four children were taken out of the house safely. Once the teams got the house cleared, they found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Autopsies are being done on the man and woman found dead at the house. Information about the man who died at the Evansville hospital is pending. KSP and the Henderson County Coroner’s Office are investigating this as a murder-suicide.
KSP tells Spectrum News 1, the children are safe with other family members.
