LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools has added digital tools to help parents find information on their students' bus route ahead of the first day of classes.

What You Need To Know

  • JCPS schools are back in session on Wednesday, Aug. 10

  • Parents and guardians can utilize several tools to find info on their student's bus route

  • Through the new Bus Finder tool, families can find their child's bus route, bus number, bus stop and whether or not their bus is running late

  • JCPS is anticipating some "routinely uncovered" bus routes this school year

District officials announced the addition of web pages, in addition to a phone number, that families can find their child's bus route, bus number, bus stop and whether or not their bus is running late.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep parents, guardians and students well-informed about the challenges we’re facing,” said Marcus Dobbs, JCPS executive administrator of transportation. “While we ask families to have some patience, rest assured that we will get all of our students to and from school safely.”

JCPS is anticipating some "routinely uncovered" bus routes this school year, which begins on Wednesday, due to a shortage of qualified drivers. The new Bus Delay Dashboard will be updated weekly to clue families in on bus delays. Students and parents can check the dashboard each Saturday after 2 p.m. for changes to the upcoming week.

However, unexpected delays won't be listen on the dashboard. Those will be alerted to parents and guardians through the district's School Messenger notification system, officials said.

Through the new Bus Finder tool, families can find all the information they'll need for their child's back-to-school transportation. Typing in an address and school will identify a bus number and the nearest bus stop available.

Parents and guardians can also call 485-RIDE to help troubleshoot transportation issues.

JCPS schools are back in session starting Wednesday, Aug. 10. You can find all the back-to-school info you need at the district's website.
