WARREN COUNTY, Ky. — Lighting off your own fireworks may come with a $500 fine in Warren County. Local officials enacted an outdoor burn ban this week, which includes the lighting of fireworks in all parts of Warren County.
What You Need To Know
- Warren County is under a burn ban, which prohibits the lighting of fireworks
- Violators could face a fine of up to $500
- Marion and Mercer counties are also under county-wide burn ban
Also prohibited under the ban are campfires, open pit cooking and charcoal grilling, according to the official order. Marion and Mercer counties are also under a county-wide burn ban.
The burn ban takes hold immediately and will be lifted "after sufficient rainfall," but it's unclear whether the bans will be lifted before Fourth of July weekend.
There are some exceptions for firework festivities, though. Firework presentations supervised by pyrotechnic professionals are permitted, as well as other displays and presentations approved by the Bowling Green city government.
County burn bans are issued by the county judge/executive and are enforced with assistance from local law enforcement. Kentucky statute requires violators face a fine between $50-100.
