“We could not do what we do without volunteers like Papa Johns and others that we partner with throughout the year because it provides us an opportunity to be able to serve out residents who are most vulnerable for a low cost. So we are able to keep overhead down with volunteers, so that means we are able to put more out the door to our neighbors,” James said.

This is Papa Johns third year volunteering at the food bank for their annual week of service.

“I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky so I think they fed 21 million last year just in this community alone, hard to wrap your head around that many people needing food, that number is only going to go us\p this year so it feels great, there is nothing better then helping out people in need and doing it in your own community is special for us,” Shane Hutchins, chief supply chain officer for Papa John’s said.

Last year, the company’s foundation gave out $3 million to organizations across the country. This year they aim to donate even more.
