LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Derby Festival scored a touchdown on Monday after organizers announced NFL star Terrell Davis will be the featured speaker for the annual They're Off! Luncheon.

The They're Off! Luncheon is the second-oldest event on the Kentucky Derby Festival's schedule, organizers said in a news release. The time-honored kick-off to festivities will be held this year on Friday, April 22.

The luncheon gets started at 11:30 a.m. in the Galt House Hotel's Grand Ballroom. Tickets are $85 each or $680 for a table of eight. You can find tickets online or by calling (502) 584-FEST.

Davis is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion. The star running back led the Denver Broncos to Lombardi trophies in Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII. Nicknamed "T.D." by many, he was named NFL MVP in 1998.

A long list of notable names have entertained Derby fans at the luncheon for over 60 years. Davis joins the likes of Dick Vitale, Magic Johnson, Larry King, Lily Tomlin and James Earl Jones.

The Kentucky Derby Festival is a weeks-long celebration, culminating this year with the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby.
