LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Churchill Downs on Monday announced it will host a live music performance on the infield for the first time ever as part of this year's Thurby festivities.

As part of a new Derby Week attraction, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats will perform on Thurby—Thursday, May 5 this year—at Churchill Downs' infield. Thurby gates open at 11 a.m. local time, with the first race scheduled at 12:45 p.m.
Thurby is the annual celebration of music, bourbon and more that has quickly gained popularity among Derby fans. General Admission tickets start at $29 and can be purchased online.
Blending their music between soul and rock, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats are a big name in contemporary rock. The Colorado band's full-length album, The Future, was released in November 2021 by Stax Records.
“We couldn’t be more excited to expand our Derby Week entertainment with this infield music experience on Thurby,” said Mike Anderson, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack. “As a day that has come to be celebrated as Kentucky’s Day, we’re confident this event will capture the interest of multiple generations and provide another way to make memories with friends and family leading up to the Kentucky Derby."
