Mason is a cat manager at Purrfect Day Cat Cafe in Louisville.
“Most days there's not a single time when I'm sitting at home that I don't have at least one cat in my lap,” says Mason.
Mason doesn’t mind taking work home. He has fostered over 100 cats since starting at the cafe three years ago.
“Not that it’s a competition, but if it was I would have the most of anybody that works here and I only got my eighth one yesterday,” says Mason.
Almost 6,000 cats have been adopted from the cafe since its opening in August 2018.
“We didn't adopt 6,000 cats personally. It's because of the support of the community, so we know that without the support of the community, it's hard to thrive,” says Mason.
The team was eager to pay it forward and support a fundraiser for a cat cafe thousands of miles away in Lviv, Ukraine.
In a Facebook post, Cat Cafe Lviv said during these difficult and dangerous times, their team is among the few who have dared to work.
The city of Lviv is about 45 miles from the border of Poland.
“They said they're not going to leave the cats so they're gonna stay open even though all that stuff is going on because all the kitties still need homes,” says Mason.
Purrfect Day Cat Cafe is inviting others to help those in Ukraine.
Donations are providing food for cats and support for the country.
“50% of all their donations they're getting right now are going to the Ukrainian army to help support that,” says Mason.
“If everybody could just be like cats, the world will be a better place,” says Mason.
If you want to support the Ukrainian cat cafe, Purrfect Day Cat Cafe has information on its Facebook page.
