COVINGTON, Ky. — AAA reports national gas prices currently on average are at about $3.604.

What You Need To Know

  • Gas prices climb amid ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict

  • AAA lists that as of Feb. 27, the national average is $3.604

  • Kentucky’s average is about $3.251 as of Feb. 27

  • People say they think prices are pretty high

The site reports that Kentucky’s numbers alone average at about $3.251. Those numbers stick out to St. Louis resident Amanda Babb, who said she’s had to travel to the area. She said she likes these prices because Indiana and Illinois prices are higher from what she’s seen.

“They’re like $3.50 or $3.60, so thirty cents cheaper over here,” Babb said.

It’s something she’s seen rise.

“Six months now, it seems, I don’t know, they keep going up little bit little bit more but $2.99 we thought was high and now we’re at $3.29,” she said.

Gas prices are expected to keep rising amid the ongoing conflict overseas in Ukraine and some said they believe that’s currently affecting prices. Babb said she thinks prices could rise because of this as time progresses.

“It probably will have some sort of impact, but I don’t know that it has any on it so far,” she said.

She said she’s got to pay for gas as she continues to travel. Don Courtney said paying these hefty gas prices adds to the list of ongoing rising prices he sees elsewhere.

“Groceries and food. It’s hard to survive these days. It takes two people to work together,” Courtney said.
