Georgetown native Michael Crisp is the creative mind behind “Georgetown, The Animated Series” a comedy program based on the community of Georgetown, as well as many of the cities well know by residents.

"Georgetown, The Animated Series, is absolute pure fun," Crisp said. "It's a great diversion for people throughout our community, not only for Georgetown, but for all of Kentucky."

The documentary film producer-turned animator wanted to find a way to give back during the pandemic by offering up his creativity in a way that could make those at home laugh and smile.

"I'm a huge fan of Kentucky, and I live in Georgetown. I really enjoy the City of Georgetown, my hometown. I wanted to do a program that would be kind of a fun, different, interesting show that would showcase, not only Kentucky, but my hometown, and that's when I came up with the idea," he said.

The reverent comedy showcases a lot of local people and places in Georgetown, and Crisp said it's been a pleasure to create so far.

If you look closely, you’ll notice many of Georgetown’s landmarks that set the stage for the show. Each of the locations is key to the story plot and a mirror of their real-life counterparts.

"Frequently, we'll have our characters be at Fava's Restaurant. If they're being arrested, they might be at the Georgetown Police Department, or the Scott County Justice Center. They might be dining at Galvin's Restaurant, or having a beer at a nearby pub," Crisp explained. "It's always just a fun thing to be able to showcase businesses."

At Georgetown City Hall, Mayor Tom Prather is often busy taking care of official business, all while his animates self is taking care of official business.

"Just what a wonderful thing it is, when we have the opportunity to laugh at ourselves," Mayor Prather said. "I think we should probably do that a little more frequently."

The mayor may be laughing, but he’s not sure that Michael got his character quite right.

"Well, I kind of wish that I wasn't portrayed as such a dork, but other than that, I find it pretty humorous," Prather said.

For an even more personal touch, Crisp also includes his wife and dog Jarvis as primary characters in the show.

"The guy that plays Jarvis, The Talking Dog, is British, and he lives in Great Britain," Crisp said.

“Georgetown, The Animated Series” just began season two with eight new episodes. Both seasons can be viewed on YouTube, and on Facebook.
