“It's a new manufacturing line that will help us to support our double digit growth," said Sylvia Buxton, North America President and CEO for the company.

Buxton also said the goal is to provide 16 new jobs. She said the company employs about 500 people in the U.S. alone – and that impacts people here in Northern Kentucky.

“We are a major employer in the area. We’ve actually more than doubled our staff over the last five to seven years," Buxton said.

She said they're now hiring – and it's not just those 16 positions they're looking to fill either.

Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Brent Cooper also mentioned the company serves as a major employer for those in the area. Cooper said it's a positive thing seeing that money invested into something here.

He said the company's been a staple in the area for years, and this growth will provide a lot of benefit.

“So whenever you build out a thing like this you’re doing construction jobs and all the large amenities that come with having a large business like this and the stuff they make is really fun stuff. It’s a sense of pride for our community to have Perfetti Van Melle here," he said.

A lot of the famous candies you may enjoy get manufactured here including Mentos and Airheads.

“Airhead bars are made one place in the world and that’s here in Erlanger, Kentucky," Buxton said.

She said they make about 4 million of those bars a day.

While things seem to be growing now, Buxton said the plans won't stop here.

“We’ve been growing for ten years, we plan to grow for at least ten more. We’’ve got additional space in our factory and our warehouse to support that growth and we’ve got land that we can also expand on here in the facility- so we’re going to continue to invest here," she said.
