KENTUCKY — Allegations of ethics violations and conflicts of interest have been leveled against former Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes.

Grimes is accused by the Executive Branch Ethics Commission of engaging in conflicts of interest between her professional business and private affairs.

The notable Democrat served two terms as Secretary of State beginning in 2012. Erica Galyon, who worked for Grimes at the time, was also notified of the allegations.

Investigators allege that Grimes directed a subordinate to use state time to dowload voter registration information for private purposes. They also say before the 2016 election, Grimes used her agency to craft a list of newly registered Democratic voters and directed a subordinate to email that list to some Democratic candidates.

Grimes has 20 days to respond to the inquiry, according to official documents. She'll eventually be ordered to appear before the commission.
