LEXINGTON, Ky. — Country music star Morgan Wallen has a lot of fans in Kentucky. Tickets for three Dec. concerts at Rupp Arena went on sale Friday and more than 36,000 were gone in 90 minutes. Fan demand prompted the addition of the third show. Wallen will be at Rupp Dec. 3, 4 and 5.
Rupp Arena is the only top where the multiplatinum superstar is playing three consecutive shows.
Oak View Group Facilities’ Brian Sipe, General Manager of Central Bank Center said in a news release, “With Lexington being a new member of the Oak View Group Facilities family, we are thrilled that Country music superstar, Morgan Wallen, is coming here to Rupp Arena for three back-to-back nights! We can’t wait to show why Lexington is one of the top cities for artists to play, and for fans to come see some of the greatest performers in the world.”
Thursday, Wallen learned he was nominated for two American Music Awards. However, the nomination has an asterisk from MRC Live & Alternative, which produces the AMA Awards.
Earlier this year, Wallen was caught on video using a racial slur leading to other awards shows to disqualify him entirely or from certain categories. His 2021 album His “Dangerous: The Double Album” spent 10 consecutive weeks on the top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, despite the controversy over his comments. He has since apologized and his music returned to country radio airplay after a temporary suspension.
Wallen's Lexington shows will feature CMA New Artist of the Year nominee HARDY and ERNEST.
