LEXINGTON, Ky. — Large-scale, in-person events are continuing their pre-pandemic operations this fall, including in Lexington, where the 2021 fall meet at Keeneland gets underway this weekend.

This year also marks 85 years of racing at the historical, picturesque racecourse.

Keeneland's 17-day fall meet fields include the Fall Stars Weekend Oct. 8-10 that will offer 10 stakes worth $3.65 million.

"One of the things that we want to make sure that fans know is that you have to purchase your tickets in advance here at Keeneland. We're making sure that we're at optimal capacity and we are going to limit capacity numbers, so we want to sure that people plan ahead and don't arrive and get turned away. We're still expecting around 20,000 people each day and think we're going to have a great crowd with a lot of really good energy," explained Kara Heisenbuttel, director of patron services at Keeneland.

Here are five things to know about Keeneland's 2021 fall meet:

  1. Gates open at 11 a.m / First post is 1 p.m. ET each day
  2. There is no racing on Mondays and Tuesdays
  3. Reserved seating and dining tickets must be purchased in advance
  4. You can download tickets onto your phone + scan for admission
  5. All public race-day parking is free

Keeneland has restructured ticket pricing and packages for General Admission, reserved seating and dining for the fall meet:

Advance-purchase General Admission tickets are $7. Day-of General Admission tickets still will be sold online and through walk-up purchase at the gate on race days for $10.
