The festival was slated for Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza, an outdoor venue. It will now take place in June 2022. In a Facebook post, organizers said they hoped to implement safety protocols used by other large festivals and gatherings, but said that wasn't possible at Courthouse Plaza.
Organizers said they also looked into holding the event at a different location, but with the date quickly approaching and COVID-19 numbers rising, they just couldn't find a suitable venue.
In August, the Louisville Pride Foundation announced its 2021 Louisville Pride Festival would be canceled for the second year in a row, citing COVID-19 concerns.
