Aaron Benfield kind of fell into becoming an Instagram foodie. The 34-year-old is curating one of the most delicious looking Instagram feeds featuring many Louisville restaurants.

It's called @MyTattedTake and what started as a monthly post is now weekly. Benfield is adamant about promoting Louisville's food scene as restaurants are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic.

“Dude, this is probably the best chilaquiles I’ve had.” When Spectrum News 1 caught up with Benfield at Logan Street Market he was knee deep in chilaquiles and biscuits and gravy. A hefty lox bagel was on standby just in case. His late breakfast/early lunch was laid out just waiting for a photo shoot.

“It’s so much fun to have good quality food and the food scene in Louisville is just incredible for that.”

Benfield is from a small town in Missouri, the kind of place where you'd only see dishes like sushi on a TV show movie.

“I didn’t have a lot of outside influence so I never heard of chilaquiles or anything like that. Sushi? I had no idea. I thought it was just a slab of fish," Benfield recalls.

Benfield is an aspiring foodie. He has a full-time job as a maintenance supervisor and is so happy but he's also having a great time trying new food and supporting local restaurants.

“I honestly love showing people what they could be having," Benfield said.

Benfield’s following is modest but growing and when restaurants share his posts he knows he’s done a good job supporting what they do. Tacos Juanitos, Blue Dog Bakery, and Bunz Burgers are just three of Benfield's recent visits.

“I think it’s just exploring and being able to experience. I think that’s what it’s all about.”

Just like his tattoos, Benfield says loving food and trying something different is a form of expression. When you love food and love new experiences ... that’s when it matched up for me.”
