LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville sports fans have waited months to hear two words: Full capacity.

What You Need To Know

  • Louisville City FC will operate at 100% capcity this weekend

  • Full capacity at the stadium is 15,304

  • Fans can attend Saturday's game against Memphis

  • Mitch Ried, who oversees sales and marketing, credits vaccinations and declining case numbers

On Monday, Louisville City Football Club officially announced it will be the first team in the city to offer every seat to a fan since the pandemic began.

"Things have really taken a positive turn with vaccinations and case numbers going down, and we’re excited it’s here," said Mitch Ried, who oversees sales and marketing for the club.

After years of planning their move from the Louisville Bats AAA baseball stadium into a brand new, soccer-specific stadium, the club broke ground in the Butchertown neighborhood in June of 2018. They have spent more than one year playing in front of smaller crowds. Now, Lou City will potentially host 15,304 fans beginning Saturday night.

"We want them to not only hear us but to feel us," said Herman Quinn Jr., president of the Louisville Coopers supporter group. "So, when you get all that wall of sound hitting you, it throws them off. They don’t know what to expect, because a lot of people think, 'Oh, it’s Louisville, they’re not big sports fans and all that. But they’re gonna find out. They’re gonna feel the full force of us."

Tickets can be purchased here for Saturday evening’s match against Memphis at 7:30 p.m., which will be a homecoming of sorts. The “boys in purple” are coming off two straight losses and spent Monday traveling back to Louisville from Atlanta.
