“A place where women's sports just don’t exist but they’re celebrated. For me it’s an overwhelming sense of pride for this city, starting to play on a baseball field six years ago, you weren’t sure if this was even going to work, this venture,” said Racing Louisville FC President Brad Estes.

The cup will take place from August 18-21 at Lynn Family Stadium. Director of the the Women's Cup John Reynal believes this is a step in the right direction for the future of women’s soccer.

“We hope it will be here to stay for many years to come and will grow with women's soccer in this town. We believe so strongly that Louisville will be the future of women's soccer and we're so happy to be a part of it,” Reynal said.

Alongside the Chicago Red Stars, Racing Louisville FC will be joined by two of the top clubs in the world, PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) and Bayern Munich.

“On one side you have the Red Stars which is the oldest women's professional soccer club in the U.S., on the other hand you have racing who is the newest member of women's pro soccer in the U.S. Of course throw in a couple of amazing biggest European brands in Europe with Bayern Munich and PSG, let's be honest that's going to be an event in august that won't want to be missed,” Vicky Lynch, chief business officer of Chicago Red Stars said.

The four-team, four-game tournament will ensure both the Red Stars and Racing Lou will play an international club. Racing Louisville FC supporters were in attendance for Wednesday’s announcement and were in awe of the possibilities they said this tournament will bring.

“Bringing international play here to Louisville shows our girls here who are interested in soccer what can be accomplished and it's really just getting started. My son plays soccer but we always tell him if you want to watch some of the best games, watch the women's games. With this tournament we're not just having the best women's players come, we’re having the best soccer players,” Kelly Dettlinger and Sandy Trayner, Racing Louisville FC supporters said.

Fans and supporters have high hopes the Women's Cup will help the growth of women's soccer worldwide.

“The passion and grit you'll see on the pitch will move you, it will inspire you, there's a revolution happening, be a part of it and it happening right here in the great city of Louisville,” said Victoire Cogevina, co-founder & CEO of Gloria Football & UN Ambassador for Women’s Soccer.
